This series began with a work titled ‘Fitted Skin’. Here the dress is an essential part of her persona like a ghostly stand in or a second skin that retains an impression of the owner. They are masks with an outer expression of an inner destination that we collect in order to illuminate ourselves to the world, which in turn projects it’s image back onto us. They are light hearted and whimsical, often caught in the moment of a dance, yet they often conceal complex ideas about heritage, armament, or social expectations of being a woman.
